Christmas Celebrations 2008

I am finally getting the opportunity to post our Christmas pictures-I'm only about 2 weeks late!! On Christmas Eve we went down to Kalamazoo to my parents house and then we went to church that evening and out for dinner with my parents and sisters and brother-in-law. Christmas morning is very relaxing-my mom makes a delicious brunch and then we open all our presents-this takes longer each year!! After playing with some of the new toys, we packed all our things and headed home by mid-afternoon. We had time when we got home to unload and then open our stockings before heading over to the Hunderman's for Christmas there. We had dinner at Ross' parents and his brothers and their wives. Then we attacked the gifts under their tree-by this point Ashley knew what was going on and Alyssa was tired of all the activity. Ashley was excited to "help" Alyssa open most of her presents! We put the girls to bed and stayed and played Jason and Kristin's Wii for quite a while (I think that may be our next purchase!!). The day after Christmas we had our own family Christmas, which was not too much after all the spoiling that happened the day before. Ashley did get a pair of princess slippers, which have become her favorite gift to tell people about!!
Now that Christmas is done and everything is put away, it makes me think about how long the pre-Christmas season is and how quickly it comes and goes again. Ashley is now asking "how many weeks until Christmas again?" Then after we saw a whole year, the next question becomes "well, when will it be summer then?" The time concept is so interesting from the perspective of a 3 year old!
Ashley so excited that it is FINALLY time for presents
Ashley posing after opening her two big gifts-video game and Polar Express Train
Alyssa up from her nap and trying to open her presents
Setting up the Polar Express Train with Grandpa and Grandma Weesies
Ashley pondering which present to open next, while Alyssa goes after more paper
Ashley more than willing to help Alyssa open her presents-Alyssa really just wanted the wrapping!
Alyssa not very interested in the gift inside the wrapping while opening gifts at Hunderman'sAshley testing out her new Smart Cycle video game at home
Alyssa happy to be back home with her toys-who cares about all the new stuff she just received!
Wishing all of you a Blessed New Year!
