Life

I was looking at my calender this weekend and realized that 4th of July is less than a week away- where did the month of June go and what is happening to our summer?! This past week it finally felt like summer and we have spent time each day out in the pool. The girls love the water and Alyssa knows exactly which door to run to when you say "Alyssa, let's go swimming"
As so many in the Holland area, we did not go untouched by the rains that came Friday, June 19. We had 2 inches during the night Thursday to Friday, which started the problem, but it really came Friday evening when the Holland area had 5 inches of rain dumped on us within a 1-2 hour time. We had very little damage compared to many, but our carpet in the basement did get wet and we spent the remainder of the evening moving toys, furniture, carpet and padding and then sucking up water with towels and a shop vac. Now we are working to figure out how to redo some of the basement and also add some type of pump or drainage in the back to prevent it from happening again- since this is now 2 years in a row in the month of June where flooding rains have hammered our area.

Alyssa is now 14 months and is our wild, crazy child. It is amazing to watch the difference in personalities between the two girls. Alyssa is learning to defend her territory and ALL toys (her or others) with biting, hair pulling, hitting, pinching... this has caused LOTS of tears and screams in our house lately-sibling rivalry at its finest!! This is how she would spend everyday (no diaper would be even better!) loves to find anything she can to wear, hold, or drag around the house!
We hope all of you continue to enjoy your summer and have a wonderful 4th of July holiday with friends and family celebrating the freedoms of our country!
