This past week was Tulip Time in Holland. I am not a native Hollander so I am still getting the idea of what goes on during the week. We did take in the Children's Parade for the first time this year- Ashley liked the floats and the flag girls, but had to cover her ears for every band... Alyssa just wanted to walk the parade route with anyone who would let her tag along (she usually only made it to the people sitting nex to us!) It did wear Alyssa out as she was sleeping before she was buckled back in her carseat. We went downtown a couple different nights to watch our friends dutch dance- if you are not familiar with dutch dancing, Ashley will educate you "if you see wooden shoes, those are the dutch dancers." Ross and Ashley also rode the Ferris Wheel while Alyssa and I watched from the ground-the thrill of the week for Ashley!
I had talked to a lady at church, who has 2 older girls, to see if she still had their dutch costumes. She thought she had something that would fit both my girls; however, she wasn't able to get it to me until Sunday at church and only had an outfit for Ashley. Now that Ashley new what Tulip Time was all about, she was very excited to wear the clothing (her wooden shoes were sliver sparkle shoes!!) She spent some time out in the yard today doing her own little dutch dance and then most of the morning in the clothes! It was beautiful weather and lots of beautiful Tulips and some great dutch dancing!
